The organic dairy farm of Maatschap Lok is located between the nature reserves De Wieden and De Weerribben in the Netherlands. This company is run by Pieter and Betty Lok and their son Jan Pieter and daughter-in-law Ingrid. 80 dairy cows with accompanying young stock are kept. A new free-range barn is currently being built, in which the cows can roam freely. The stable will have a soft, comfortable straw floor. The family has chosen this barn to stimulate the natural behavior of the cow as much as possible. In addition, the manure from the stable is a good nutrient fertilizer for the land and soil life. In this way it is easier for the cows to extract roughage and fertilizer is not missed.
