Joost van Dam is the fourth-generation dairy farmer on this farm. They have been supplying organic milk to the CZ Rouveen cheese factory since 2009. With the financing of Triodos Bank, the outdated free stall barn has been replaced by a deep-freeze barn with milking robots, in order to offer the greatest comfort to humans and animals. The cows sometimes go strip grazing from the end of March until December.
Soil quality, manure quality and meadow bird management are important topics, in addition to the antibiotic-free production of quality milk. Due to good contacts with organic farmers, part of the manure in the region is sold and exchanged with grass-clover. In this way, the company completes the cycle regionally. Joost van Dam has been supplying Demeter milk since June 2020.
